== Early Days ==

Received his 1st degree black belt in Kenpo Karate from [[Ed Parker]] in 1969. 
In 1974 Rodarte opened his first Kenpo Karate Studio. Rodarte was also a co-founder of the (TPA) Tournament Promoters Association in Southern California.

Rodarte became a pioneer of US full-contact Kickboxing events in Southern California, including the very first Western U.S.-Thai Kickboxing event in Hawaii. 
Rodarte organized & promoted the first officially licensed Thai Kickboxing event at the Los Angeles Olympic Auditorium.

In 1982 Rodarte graduated from the Rio Hondo Police Reserves academy and later received a “Certificate of Good Samaritan Award” from District Attorney Ira Reiner for his involvement in an investigation.
 
Rodarte’s Kenpo School was tragically destroyed in the California Earthquake of 1989.
